About Laurie
Laurie grew up in the Pacific Northwest and has lived there most of her life. The scenic beauty and unique lifestyle clearly influence her artwork. Picasso said “Painting is just another way of keeping a diary” and Laurie’s diary is colorful and contented.
With her husband Marc, Laurie lives in the Victorian Seaport of Port Townsend, Washington. They enjoy making art, being active in their community, and spending time outdoors kayaking, biking, hiking and gardening.
“I have the great joy of focusing my life on art. I use a variety of mediums: acrylic and watercolor paints, collage papers, and on occasion Sumi ink and pastels. I also create batik images on fabric. Having more ways to express myself gives me a wider range of opportunities for my art.”
Laurie completed a 29 year career with the U. S. Forest Service where her last post was Director of Fire and Aviation Management for the Pacific Northwest Region. Now she considers herself a recovering bureaucrat, though her years in outdoor “offices” have been useful to her paintings.
Laurie received a BS in Art Education from the University of Oregon in 1978 and has been juried into several art shows in Port Townsend. She sells her art at the Port Townsend Gallery, 715 Water Street, downtown Port Townsend.
